Centennial Lakes Park is another popular destination in Edina. The ultimate urban escape, it features a 24-acre park and pond and hosts a Farmers Market every Thursday. Near the arena is Braemar Golf Course and Braemar Field, offering artificial turf perfect for soccer and baseball games.

Edina is a suburb of Minneapolis, the largest city in Minnesota.  Not too far away from Edina and Minneapolis is Minnesota’s capital city, Saint Paul.  Minneapolis–Saint Paul is a major metropolitan area built around the Mississippi, Minnesota and St. Croix rivers in east central Minnesota. Minneapolis and Saint Paul are commonly known as the “Twin Cities” because they neighbor each other. The “Twin Cities” offer many sights for families to see and destinations to visit.

In Minneapolis, Mill City Museum is a historical museum focused on the elements that contributed to the founding and growth of Minneapolis.  Another popular place to visit is the Walker Art Center, an art center in Minneapolis dedicated to modern and contemporary art. Inside the center, there is a museum, a theater, restaurants, and more.

Saint Paul features the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, a perfect place to take children. There are dozens of different animal exhibits, including polar bears, primates, wolves, birds, and aquatic animals. The Zoo also has a small amusement park, a mini golf course, and various flower gardens. The Mississippi National River and Recreation Area is another place you don’t want to miss out on. It is a popular, peaceful area for fishing, boating, birdwatching, and hiking.

Downtown Minneapolis is also only a 20-minute drive from Step By Step Montessori Schools of Edina. To get to Downtown Minneapolis, hop on the Crosstown Highway and head east to get on the I-35W. Head north on the I-35, passing Minnehaha Creek Park and Powderhorn. As you approach the Minneapolis Convention Center, merge onto MN-62 E and take S 11th Street straight into the heart of Downtown Minneapolis, where you will see the Minnesota Orchestra and University of St. Thomas.

Downtown Saint Paul is about a 25-minute drive from Step By Step Montessori Schools of Edina. To get to Downtown Saint Paul, get on the Crosstown Highway and head east until you pass the Minneapolis – Saint Paul International Airport. As you enter Fort Snelling territory, take the MN-5 exit to get on I-35E. Take I-35 E straight into Saint Paul, passing United Hospital and the Cathedral of Saint Paul. Get off on exit 106A to get on 10th Street. When you see the McNally Smith College of Music, you have made it into the heart of downtown Saint Paul!
